Current & Upcoming Projects

Black Box 2.0 — An electronic music installation. This revamp will be premiered in Columbus, Ohio. I hope to send it on many journeys in the future!

​

Intermediate Unaccompanied Violin Solos — In collaboration with Claire Allen (Washington D.C.), I am writing new works with and for her intermediate students in her modified Suzuki studio. I hope these will be played by many students (especially as we teach more and more online out of necessity!)

​

Score for Four — 3 composers. 1 poet. Sure to be a wild, crazy work. Commissioned by the Johnstone Fund for New Music.

Kéyah (for symphony orchestra) receives a Finalist Honorable Mention for the 2019-2020 American Prize in Composition: Orchestral Music (professional division).

​

Soprano Jennifer Sgroe & pianist Erik Sedgwick present selections from Baby Book at the NATS Virtual Conference as part of Project 2020.

​

March 2020

I finish my first piece for wind ensemble! Belvo Jamboree, commissioned by the Miamisburg High School Wind Ensemble.

​

I also finish my first art song since completing Baby Book—"Heart" with poetry by Maggie Smith. Commissioned by Hixon Dance & the Johnstone Fund for New Music.

 

These works will premiere in 2021 due to COVID.

2019

August 2019

The International Alliance for Women in music awards the Ruth Anderson Commission Prize ($1000) for Black Box 2.0, a versatile, customizable vessel for sound that invites curiosity and interactive play by introducing novelty and peculiarity into an everyday environment. 

​

I am a Composer Fellow at the N.E.O. Voice Festival. Together, we created the inaugural "Exploratorio" comprised of 13 original works on the theme of The Origin of Creativity, including my new improvisatory work Balloon Interludes.​

​

April 2019

Premiere of my new work Kéyah for the Central Ohio Symphony Orchestra to accompany work by former National Parks Eminent Photographer Frank Ruggles.

Baby Book is a finalist for the American Prize: Vocal Chamber Music.

I am a Composer Fellow at the 2018 Wyoming Festival. Holly Mulcahy and Barbara Scowcroft premiere my violin duo Current, written in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Wild & Scenic Rivers Act.

I originate the role of Elizabeth in Justin Giarrusso's new opera A World Apart as part of NANOWorks.

April 20-22, 2018

Musical arrangement for Orphée+, a collaboration with Opera Columbus,  Toronto's Against the Grain Theater, and NYC's Company XIV.

​

A reimagining of Gluck's Orphée arranged for chamber orchestra, electric guitar, and electronic sound design. This this full production pushes the boundaries of operatic presentation through digital sound augmentation, captivating choreography, video projections, and aerial artistry.

Baby Book wins the award for the Festival dei Due Mondi's 5th Annual Young Composers Competition dedicated to Gian Carlo MenottiThe complete work is premiered by Lucie Chartin (soprano) and Luba Podgayskaya (piano) at Sant'Eufemia in Spoleto Italy as part of Incontri Musicali.

June 4-17, 2017

I attend New Music on the Point in Leicester, Vermont and collaborate with forty/sixty, who premieres my new work for string trio, Mosaic.
